I remember him saying that at a party one time, when some girl in a halter top and a big blue hat had cornered him and accosted him about drinking and drugs, etc. Then of course we left--funny how we always never stayed til the "end" of parties--and on the stumble home we passed one of those little corner bars that used to dot the landscape of ordinary life in those days.
