081313 #copperhead Only a few meager trickles and runnels flow between me and what could properly be described as the river bank; the main channel is behind me. The sun is low, low, low to my left. To my right, towards the sudden bend in the river bed, I notice now a great, gnarled tree trunk, parallel to the gurgling surface of the water. It's one of those perfect sitting-by-the-river spots, the kind of rotund, firm barky surface that practically begs you to climb aboard, that makes you feel like a little girl with a horse between her legs, simultaneously adventurous and safe and sound.
