Especially around so-called political issues, people often conflate, say for instance, "bills" with "hurricanes". Human constructs with natural forces. The knee-jerk argument against the affordable care act that goes, "Why should I pay your bills?" might be rephrased as "Why should I behave cooperatively?" or even "Why should I care about you?" Why not just come right out and say it? Why act as if "bills", and your luck in being able to pay them, are a manifestation of some kind of fundamental natural order? Leaving aside the gross hypocrisy in the question, what's the deeper question that it avoids?
