The white-T-shirted, corn-chip-eating pathos of that breaks my heart right now, as I think back, but of course in real life, as anything in real life is when it's compared to your anxiety-ridden, deep-night dreams of what life was supposed to be like, you child, you grown-up child of lost dreams and broken promises, it probably wasn't really all that devastating.
