knew i was playing (at first) presence of cj )liked the name stone i gave to Cisco-esque captain) agreed with villagers to turn against my crew. played/fought the first row of three or so guards. mostly ignored hits they gave me except as necessary to remain convincing enough. knocked them all out with cool martial arts moves. one of them had a stick. he hit my arm with it; it didnt hurt but i pretended it did. moved on ahead to stone and the other main guys. we discussed. i advocated, though i wasnt really totally convinced (i was playing the role still), that we should just forget about where we came from, and assimilate with the villagers. Stone said no, instead we should strive to get home. i said how are we going to do that? he said just keep moving up. Up? But all that means is well get up to the top of some tower, and well just be sitting there, alone. The discussion was tabled. We each went our separate ways, tho not necessarily permanently. I found myself at a burger joint. I ordered a number one with cheese curds and coke. The girl who took my order was attractive, slightly flirtatious, just scornful enough to be interesting. She said it was four something and i gave her a five. She inspected my money, then said, sorry. You have to have the new money, and then it will be three seventy-five. I was confused. I told her I hadnt known there was a new money. I said it was my first day here. She seemed sympathetic but still didnt want to give me the food until I practically begged. She said okay well just slip this under here, and she tucked my no-good five dollar bill under some stuff. I assumed she would deal with it later. How nice. I got my burger, but I had to go back and ask her for the curds, feeling a little ashamed. She gave me two of what looked like chicken strips. Apparently, things were progressing rather fast, post-apocalyptically. They had already recreated money almost exactly like the old kind, and their economy was developing along the same lines. I thought in some ways that was a shame, a waste of an opportunity to experiment with something new, but then again it was kind of comforting that people were so ably recreating what had been lost. I also saw in a magazine an ad for a computer you could buy. It looked like about vintage early eighties. I guess different things progressed at different rates.
