standing with four or five others loosely gathered at the top of a cliff. Sandy, limestone, chunky and almost vertical. Someone has fallen--is in trouble at the bottom. One or two others race down, or seem to materialize down at the bottom, to help. They have a cel phone. As it is all happening, I tell someone else to call 911. I consider going down. Start to. Stop. Not because I couldnt do it, but because its not obvious they need me. Already 2 or 3 others down there. A man, up here still, berates me. Calls me a coward and a shirker and so on. I argue halfheartedly, pointing out I told someone to call 911. He says I did just what a girl would have done. It wasnt because I thought I couldnt make it. It was just too much trouble to do it just for the hell of it.
