A chinese man was strapping me to a metal chair in a room with others in similar chairs whom i could sense but not see. there were tv's in front of the room which we were more or less required to watch. the tv had a vaguely asian woman with a round face, young, maybe early twenties, doing something vaguely athletic but with a sense of psychic remove. the man was not doing a very good job of securing my restraints. he strapped loosely to my upper left arm a large boxy contraption, explaining that it encouraged greater loyalty. When he was finished, he walked away. At first I held the contraption to my arm, habitually or reflexively behaving as though it belonged there, and also i held my midriff strap and my feet straps in place. as i was just barely beginning to experiment with the idea that i did not have to hold them in place, chuck groshong came up from one of the other chairs behind me, and explained that i should insert a coin in the middle of the mechanism that latched the feet restraints to each other, and that way when i was ready to leave i would be able to remove my feet swiftly. having given me this information, he too removed himself from sight. i was becoming aware that it was possible not to remain captive here. the thought was still novel, and i was working on positioning the coin when i woke up.
