i had a friend/mentor/therapist named either pete or something else. later, trying to remember his name, i kept coming up with paris. so im calling him pete paris. he was tan-gold-bronze, kind of wide and round (not fat, just comfortably large). he gave me a translucent purple stone, about 3/4 inch across and maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Not round, but kinda curvy-triangular. He said he thought it would be a good idea if I carried it around for a while. He said something else about why, but I forget. Later, near the front door of some kind of mall, with Ann. I ask her to go ask the lady in the greek restaurant (which is kind of half-dark but open, and there is a biggish blond guy lounging in a barber chair just inside the door) what kind of stone it is. She goes in, calls the lady by name, and the two of them go back into the kitchen. A little later, they come out, and Ann comes back out to the mall area and tells me: its called a she-stone. Its as hard as a diamond. The greek lady only knows of eight people who have them. It is the best stone for writing in the sand, because it knows what you have loved. It doesnt have to look at you and decide, it just knows, and when you let it, it writes in the sand what you have loved. Also: I just remembered this. My sheath knife? The one Jim gave me, the one that got stolen out of Anns car in the alley? I found it somewhere in there. It just appeared.
