--yes, I want to see waking life again.
--when it was over, i went in the restroom at the oriental and tried to turn off the lights, just to see, you know, and there were no lightswitches anywhere!
--the other night i had a dream involving how much time i had worked somewhere (among other, more exciting things), and i read the time off the clock (non-digital) and wrote it down, and i could read it
--this morning, you and i and others were at the bank of a river or else the side of a street, and you recieved news that someone had died. you were saddened but also very hurt and angry because no one had even told you that he or she had been sick. you were crying. this one guy went off to roll a joint, i think. this one girl/woman that kind of looked like tanya said she would get to work on it, and went off to write letters to everyone in your family. later she came back and said more than once "it is done" but i couldn't tell if she meant the letter writing, your friendship with her, or something else. while all this was going on, i sat there with my arm around you. later someone gave me a poem you had written for an assignment in a class you had had back in college. I could read it all. It was in courier typeface, on light blue paper. The last line may have shifted upwards to become the first line (or so) and some of the parts just kind of disappeared, but while i was looking at any one part, the words were perfectly clear. the harder task was remembering it all after i woke up. I think I got about 30 to 50 percent of it. Here are the fragments i remember, with (parenthesis) around parts where i'm only recalling the sense, not the literal words:
a
hyperaction poem
for (name of
teacher, name
of class, by)
kate clapper
kids kindergarten
(in a midnight closet, with leigh ------)
old (pay)phones stacked up
and file cabinets
(umbilica intertwining)
(their coin routes from the outside locked up on the inside)
it is as if the (codes) for their (entry) are (hidden inside)
seen through the panila of the manilla
soon to be there for us all or here in blood
[(location, situation, time--)invented]
I remember thinking in the dream that "kids' kindergarten" was redundant, but i held my tongue. Also, I have no idea what "panila" is, but "pannus" is latin for cloth, and "panniculus" is a sheet or layer of tissue.
