my friend anh is driving. i say, look at those elephants! she looks, and is delighted, making me feel proud. one elephant, a young boisterous one, snorts his feet playfully on the dust of a high, narrow ledge above the craggy plain. there are dozens of his cousins galloping down the scree towards us. we drive on. the elephants turn into horses, come closer, faster. oh my god, anh screams, eyes brilliant! she urges the old convertible faster up the rocky sloping road. the horses overtake us. one sticks his grand face right next to mine. i can smell him smelling me. hello, i venture. the horses are seafoam white, bearded, maned and decorated with elegant curls and wisps. they easily outpace the car. we stop, they stand around us. they tell us about, we talk about....
