There was this huge, indoor governmental city. It was sort of like an afterlife and mostly like Where-They-Send-People. There were a few powerful high-up men who were running some kind of tyrranical conspiracy type government thing that most common joes had no clue about; the joes just did their busy work and moved from here to there. But I was actually sent there to uncover the conspiracy, and more specifically, to rescue this one woman who was in their clutches of late. Now, my style was not exactly good cop. For instance, the top dude (president, or whatever) probably suspected there was something fishy about me, and was probably testing me when he offred me a job (only people who know high-ups get offered these stupid little jobs, and if you complete them, you get assigned a position in the government as promised). Well, if I had wanted to get in on his good side and get, for my use later, that little government office, I would have just done the job. Actually, he gave me three. Each was written up on a separate form. And each had the expected date of completion in the corner. The first one was complete bullshit; its time said 0.0. The second one was also stupid; it said Next 21/2 days. The third one was stupid, but it involved going to the library, so it gave me an excuse to check out the library. Its date was Next 23 days. I hoped no one, like the official I met at the elevator, would get snoopy as to why I wasnt doing the first job first. So I went to the library, and it was full of people and some books. That official dude whom I met (he was pretty high up, I could tell; not to be fucked with) seemed kind of proud of it, and finally left me alone to explore. I met up with Peter! He didnt seem to really know that anything untoward was going on, until I said, I have mixed feelings about this place, and the lights dimmed for a second, but only I could see it!!!! I said to Peter, Did you see that? Did you see that? and whether he saw or not, he could tell by my urgency that something was truly up. Then he kissed me. I was feeling tremendously attracted to him. But then the official dude came over and interrupted us, saying there was going to be some kind of drill or something out on the front lawn, and that we all had to pair up to participate. He assigned me to Peter, which made me quite glad, because I could tell Peter and I were going to be getting into some kind of relationship. As we left, I looked at my jobs one more time, and yelled, Oh this is just busy work! and wadded them up. Peter said, All the real stuff is just busy work, and someone else (or was it just a voice?) said, You might need those to get into places later, and I said yeah youre right, and stuck them back into my pocket, along with a book I had picked up for a specific world-saving reason--only now I cant remember what the book was! On our way past the stacks by the door of the library, I heard another guy acting untypically rebellious. Someone had stepped on his foot or something I guess, because she said to him, Expreese me, and he yelled, Expreese my fucking ass, bitch! and I yelled it along with him, and laughed, and Peter kinda looked at me like he wondered why I didnt worry about getting in trouble with the higher-ups. But that was just my style. For some reason I had confidence I could irreverently kick this conspiracys ass.
