Isn't it weird how sometimes it seems your brain works equally as diligently on "how to keep the simple syrup from crystallizing" (clean pan, don't boil too long, lid to keep some of the steam in, add a little lemon juice, add a little corn syrup, let it cool, pour it off carefully into a clean jar...) as it does on what to do about Megan saying "the only reason I haven't tried to kill myself is I don't know how"? I guess it has to process stuff in its own, data-is-data, computer like way. But hey, tonight she came to me and said quietly can you come upstairs and do my covers and stuff. And then she talked to me for hours and sometimes I kind of flubbed the listening process by trying too hard, but overall it went good and thank god she's still talking to me and making plans and thinking about next year. But still. I wish I had the recipe for this one, too. (2015)
