#mine’s more like a cat when i think of all the years i spent subservient to the extroversion ideal, the culture of personality--the inadequacy i felt for instance when i didn't get the whole poetry slam thing, couldn't just bust out with a charismatic display. could i even call myself a poet? yes, well, turns out there's of course more than one kind of poet & writer, and my poetry is not something that usually responds well to being slammed around. never too late to keep learning.
