my super power: i know i’m the asshole sometimes
my super dumbness: i still can’t always figure out when
my pronouns: he/him out of habit, will respond to she/her as the occasion requires
mil:
I didn’t know what to say and I ended up saying something I hadn’t thought through completely yet, and that obviously touched some kind of a nerve, and then trying to make it better made it worse, and I feel crappy about that. All I really meant was that if I look back at how I interact with you sometimes I think I’m not as generous or charitable or patient or as good a listener as I could be, and I’m not sure why. Like I play back things I said or ways I responded to you that seem kind of asshole-ish in retrospect, and I worry that you won’t realize I love you and care about you and respect you and am here for you no matter what
Like is it better for a parent to pretend they treat everyone the same and just kid themselves? Or should I just have not said anything and tried to change on my own
It’s because I want to get to know you better, know how to be better for you, and if there’s something I’m doing to keep you away, I want to become aware of it.
questions:
why did i tell her to STOP IT when she was freaking a little listening to me talk to the vet about alexa
why did i get exasperated when she said something political?
what would i have done if one of the other girls had said or done the same things?
You want to give a gift? Give your curiosity, attention, openness (love)
Four blocks you can arrange any way you want or need.
Over the long haul, systems that can microadjust tend to adapt better than those that only go in set, wide-spaced detentes. Or maybe not (think typewriters vs overly complex software)
We like (lit) that we can get inside and do some reality testing in, for fucked up situations and blessed ones alike
I don’t remember you because you tried to cheat death. I remember you because you weren’t afraid to admit you tried
honest question: why are so many internet liberals so eager to embrace censorship as long as it’s not of themselves?

> Im not even trying to stop my photos from being scanned. I literally have nothing to hide, so I’m happy to upload them to iCloud and have them scanned there. I consent to the scan when I upload them off my device to Apple. But apple’s implementation of on-device scanning is wrong in principle, so I must protest.

> Many don't know this, but that as soon the user logs in to their iCloud account and has iMessages working across devices it stops being encrypted end-to-end. The decryption keys is uploaded to iCloud, which essentially makes iMessages plaintext to Apple.

i stay on mac (i just did a keyboard maestro shortcut to instantly open this window to capture a fleeting thought, for example) because of efficiency and convenience in workflow. because i have tools that only run on mac that let me personalize and automate
but here’s my question—how much does that stuff *really help me* in ways that are essential, vital, urgent, and/or important?
If my interaction with computers went back to being as inefficient, un-automated, and slow and clunky as it was, say, in the 00’s, or the 90’s, or god forbid in the 80’s, typing shit out on Wordstar and clackity-clacking it to a daisy wheel printer, being amazed at how different it was from my typewriter, would my life be substantially worse?

It’s one of his gifts
Doesn’t mean it’s something he’s better at than you
It means
It’s something he’s happy to spend time energy and attention on, only to give away
Because he loves you
