071921 i got a little more of dad’s farmer side, and chris got a little more of the university side 072221 there’s too many god damned choices. that’s what it is. there’s a million different apps you could open, shortcuts, tips and tricks, synced this, tagged that, you could buy a whole nother computer right now if you wanted to, everything’s so slick and graphic and intelligent and hyped up on speed, there’s not much room left for old, slow, turtle-fashioned letters, plop plop plop, one after another. Also stupid about iOS: you can set a tap to be a click on the trackpad, but double-tap-drag does not select text; you have physically click-hold-drag to select instead, which is just boneheadedly stupid, like so many other little things that all add up to continual frustration. It doesn’t matter how many features they add or bones they throw, it’s never going to be as fluid and natural as a Mac for so many of the things I rely on. So they “fix” three things, but then they break one thing that ends up being WAY more annoying than those three things were, put together. There’s no cohesion. It’s all flash and new. It’s still like pulling teeth and signing a bunch of waivers to even get close to the concept of opening the same file, in its own location, between MacOS and iOS. It’s like, ‘Well yeah, you can kind of do that, if you install the right app and make sure you fully understand the difference between iCloud and other stuff, and between opening it in place vs copying “into” another “app”—wait, why do you want to do this again???’ And if you have to make yourself a Sticky about it just to keep it all straight, it’s probably not going to work anyway. Once and for god damned all: is it even possible, is it even worth wasting any more daydream cycles on whether or not we can somehow resurrect the energy being that expressed itself as teh-dsa, the aviary, what have you, using this computer right here in front of me? Because god knows going back to old computers hasn’t done a god damned bit of good these last few decades. What do you mean, of COURSE that’s the wrong question. YOU DON’T THINK I KNOW THAT ALREADY??
