Children of peace are ill equipped for war.
We were able to get stoned and play the flute in the mountains pretty much whenever we wanted to.
We’re ill equipped maybe because we just don’t recognize it for what it is, what it’s about to become. We look at it as an allegory, a monolith, a concept.
We betrayed ourselves by our own indignation and abhorrence, inherited from our forbears' need to heal in private. We taught ourselves the enemy was a historical anomaly, we adopted a stance that everyone was basically good. The evil sibling is back, un-frogged, never went away of course--it never does.
But *our* children will be handsome beautiful vicious savages, despite our best intentions. They’re going to look at it as what it actually is, and they’re going to teach us what it actually is, again.
It'll be theirs to decide whether the individual aggrandizement and prison-caliber up-puffing that most of us are willing to spend our "free" time shopping for really has anything to do with anything.
